Hearing Test – Will I feel Claustrophobic?

One of the things that people think about when they consider doing a Hearing Test is how claustrophobic the hearing test booths can be. Some are as small as a telephone booth! This was a topic of conversation that I had with Tony Bongiovi many years ago. Tony is the record producer behind many famous bands, such as Bon Jovi, the Ramones, Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix, among many others. He is also the cousin of Jon Bon Jovi. Tony developed a sound filtration algorithm that is being applied to the medical field as well as hearing protection and other products. I have served as their lead consultant for Hearing and other otolaryngology projects for the past nine years.

Over dinner we discussed how we could change one of my exam rooms into a Hearing Test booth. He and one of his associates came to Huntersville and over the course of a week did just that. Using the exact technology that he used in his recording studio in Manhattan, named the Power Station, he transformed this exam room into a state of the art, one of a kind hearing test booth. Patients appreciate the extra room they have, and also the unique appearance of the testing booth itself. Some have mentioned that it smells like a pine forest, due to the pine wood that is used to break up sound vibration.
